The 2010 Program

This year's event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the City of Rovaniemi. Local artists and cultural activists will create a powerful and engaging event which will give Rovaniemi, the gateway to Lapland, the respect and attention it deserves.

The Rovaniemi Old Time Fair (RWM) will also provide a scene for local performers and artists this year. It will support the joy of creation and young artists at the grassroots level in order to enhance the growth and blossoming of creativity, not as weeds but as strong Lappish pines, supporting and strengthening the surrounding community.

Peasant folk culture has been an important part of the popular history of the people of Rovaniemi and Lapland for many decades. What RWM aims to do is to bring this tradition back to life and cherish it. High culture, "elite art", and peasant folk culture are not in competition but support one another on an equal footing.

All are invited to join in the voluntary work and help bring our beloved Rovaniemi to new heights!
